Remembering the Reason for the Season

Christmas time comes once a year

And when it comes, it brings good cheer.

But why all the decorating, baking, and shopping?

Our schedules are full and the days are not stopping.

We forget so quickly why Christmas bells ring,

why parties are held and carolers sing.

Our Christ should be center of all that we do,

the trees, the tinsel, and gift giving too.

Why do we have bells, candy canes and good wishes;

nativities, stars, and angels and kisses?

Christ came as a baby so long ago

And this gift was given so everyone could know.

That God loved the world so much, and the people so dear

that He gave His son to be mocked and jeered

And Jesus gave His life on that ole cruel tree,

That we and our families could all be set free.

In all the hustle and bustle of the season...may we never forget the Real Reason for celebration. Merry Christmas to you all from the Peck household.

First snow of the season

The kids wanted so badly to play in the snow, so being the good mother that I am, :) I put aside my dislike for it and took them out. It was not too bad cold so that was good. I stayed warm enough and didn't keep them out too long. It was fun to see them enjoy it.
Here is Abigail with her little dog. She was feeding her snowballs I think :)

Kendra is showing Benjamin how to play in the snow.

Even Roxy enjoyed the snow...she didn't know what to think at first.

Here are the 3 children together. Benjamin's snow pants were about 2 sizes too big.
But at least he stayed warm. :)LOL

Kendra's 1st School Play

Kendra had her 1st annual school play last night. She was so excited about being a butterfly in a toy store. However, when she had to have her nose painted she wasn't too sure about that. Being a child who doesn't take surprises too well sometimes, we had to decide if she was to go on stage crying or if we should wipe it off so she could sing. I chose the latter this time, maybe she will now be more prepared next time. :) She was cute and I was very proud of her.

Feasting, Fellowship & Fun!!

We celebrated Kendra's birthday since her birthday was the day before Thanksgiving. She wasn't sure she wanted to eat her cake. She was thrilled with her "Cinderella" cake.

I enjoyed the day so much. We had 29 people at Mom and Dad's and had such a great time. We feasted on waaay too much food and then played games, sat around and chatted and ended up the day by decorating the house for Christmas since Mom doesn't like to do it. :) Here are a few pictures of the fellowship around the table.

Season of Thanks

Mike and I have been thinking more about this Thanksgiving season than we ever have, I think. Not that we didn't before, but we are trying to establish some traditions for our family and have been studying the story of why we celebrate Thanksgiving. I find that I have forgotten through the years, much of the story of what our forefathers went through to begin our nation and the sacrifices it involved. Many, many of them lost family to death or even left children behind when they made the voyage across the Atlantic. It makes me so thankful for the foundation they built for us to build our nation on. God's provision was incredible and they saw Him at work in their lives even though sometimes their food was rationed. One time it is said that they rationed the corn to only 5 kernels per person. I find that hard to imagine, yet they knew they "could not live by bread alone". They lived by the Word of God. Lord, may my life be filled with thankfulness and may I always see your hand at work.

A couple of people have asked me to blog some of my cakes. I am putting on a few pictures of some cakes that I have done previously that are some of my favorites.

This baby shower cake was so much fun. The booties turned out reallycute.

Latest Creation

Well I baked another cake...this one was quite the ordeal. I bake four cakes to come up with the two that I needed. Then my dear little son decided the icing looked good and I forgot to take a picture of what it looked like after he got a hold of it. I was thankful that it fixed pretty well. You can't really even tell which side he got to.:)

It's Beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

I am so excited! God is Good!! I have been on the new Reliv product the last few days and am feeling fantastic. I am so excited about what it is doing for me! I am excited too about the results my Dad is already getting. He feels like he is getting feeling back in a leg that he has had neuropathy in. WOW! My desire is to help as many people as I can with this.

The Peck household is beginning to look a lot like Christmas!! :) The kids are excited!! and Mom is excited we started putting up decorations. My favorite are my nativities. I love the old story told over and over again. I have collected several over the years and always enjoy pulling them out. If Christ had not come, where would I be today? God's love is incredible.

Maybe I can post some pictures later of our progress.

Something New

Hello friends. I decided to try my hand at blogging. I really don't know what I am doing, but here goes. :) Life is good in the Peck household. I am kept on my toes with my children. It was interesting when last night at the supper table, my inquisitive eldest wanted to know why God wasn't born. I explained that God has always been even before anything was ever made, then we talked about Jesus being born. "But wasn't He God?" she asked. Well try to explain the idea of the Trinity to a five year old. I guess I must of made some sense, at least she was satisfied for now. I am sure there are more of those philosophical questions to come :)

My girls and I have decided it is about time to get out some of the Christmas decorations, so I guess we will do a few things tonight between school and the soup supper. Could make for a full evening, but it will be fun.
